What happens if research fails?

Connecting does not pay. The Pay button authorizes the displayed amount through Bankr’s x402 service. Bankr does not settle research errors or timeouts. A signed request or a successful HTTP response alone is not proof of a charge.

Payment and delivery are separate: an interruption after the provider settles can leave a report unavailable. Scout keeps the payment record, blocks another attempt, and opens an owner-reviewed refund case for a confirmed charge without a usable report. If the outcome is unknown, it stays “Verification pending.” Keep this link and request a review; do not pay again. Reviews do not automatically transfer funds.
