Does your group chat need another bot that talks too much? Ampersand can choose to stay quiet. Its maker, humans and, released it through an API on October twentieth. A broader consumer product is still being developed.

The app gives it a conversation history and names the sender of each message. Then it offers two choices: send a message, or pass. Staying quiet is an explicit action, instead of another helpful paragraph nobody asked for.

The company's example makes the point: someone says they are away Friday. The bot says nothing. Later, a teammate proposes a Friday meeting with everyone. Now it flags the clash. That is a demonstration, not a real team trial.

The company evaluated it with simulated people over months of simulated time. Those results do not prove that human teams become more productive. The company also says Ampersand still over-coaches, adding advice when people just want an answer.

Private context remains a risk. Your app must control permissions and check consequential actions. Watch whether this teammate catches the important conflict without turning every conversation into a coaching session.
