Using Grok voice latest? Your app is now on a different model. Today, October fourteenth, Grok Voice three launched in the real time Voice Agent API, and the latest alias switched automatically.
This is speech to speech: a conversation that can call tools while responding aloud. The release notes say the API is unchanged. Developers can select the version explicitly rather than relying on the moving alias.
The published price is eight cents per minute, the same as Voice two. That is the real time conversation rate. Text to speech is a separate service with character based pricing. Keep those costs separate when planning an app.
The announcement reports stronger voice evaluations and low latency. Those results describe tested setups, not a guarantee for your calls. Background noise, interruptions, network delays and the tools you connect still change the experience.
Before rolling this into customer calls, replay a difficult conversation. Interrupt it. Leave a pause. Make a tool fail. Check whether it recovers and completes the task. An automatic model upgrade deserves a real conversation test.
