TypeSafe’s Jev helped popularize fast, typed AI decisions. Now builders are taking that interface into open weights, vision models, and local inference. Here are three developments from late September and early October.

AutoTrust released JEV twenty-seven B, an independent student trained on published TypeSafe Jev output distributions. It isn’t TypeSafe’s model, and the teams share no weights or code. What you can download is AutoTrust’s own Apache two point oh release.

Their recipe keeps the language-model backbone frozen and trains a detachable decision block. One path scores the options you give it. Another retains the original model’s text generation and reasoning. The surrounding software chooses which path a request takes.

The vision version accepts pictures and questions, then returns probabilities for the options. AutoTrust says its decision head was trained without images. That’s a claim about the decision head, one part of a vision-capable model. Its recommendation results come from a limited test dataset.

Separately, llama dot C P P added a System One endpoint for open decision models, including Kev four B, Julia, and OpenJev. Clients send a state and typed questions. Supported models score options in one pass; some also accept images. Licenses vary by model.

Fast decisions still need testing. AutoTrust says its student can inherit its teacher’s mistakes. A valid type does not guarantee a correct answer. Check the license, measure performance on your own tasks, and choose confidence thresholds from those results.

Typed decisions are becoming something builders can try locally, in text and vision. The useful work now is finding the small decisions where these models hold up.
